Quick Facts:
The city of Thunder Bay, on Lake Superior, was formed when two previously existing adjacent cities, Fort William and Port Arthur, were merged in the 1960s. This ballpark was built in Port Arthur in 1951, apparently to accommodate local amateur baseball, although soccer and Canadian football have also been played here.

In 1993, Port Arthur Stadium became a professional venue with the arrival of the Thunder Bay Whiskey Jacks in the first season of the independent Northern League. The Whiskey Jacks lasted for six seasons before relocating to Schaumburg, Ill., where they became the Flyers.

Since 2003, the Border Cats of the college summer Northwoods League have utilized the field. The United States border is about 75 km (45 miles) down Highway 61 heading toward Duluth, Minn.
