Quick Facts:
The Yarmouth Red Sox moved to this field in 1973, when Merrill “Red” Wilson was the athletic director at Dennis-Yarmouth High School and also managing the club. Wilson played for the team for about a decade during an interim period when the Cape Cod League was an unlimited-age amateur league, between its semi-professional era and its conversion to full-fledged college summer league status in 1963.

Aside from the field still not having lights (a distinction it shares with the Stony Brook School field in Brewster and Lowell Park in Barnstable, home of the Cotuit Kettleers), Red Wilson Field is especially known for its concession stand. A cook named Bob Phillips originated the “donut burger” in 2004, with the burger being served between halves of a donut instead of on a hamburger bun. The stand also frequently sells clam chowder from a well-known purveyor in Yarmouth as well as locally made ice cream sandwiches.
