Waycross Memorial Stadium

Quick Facts:
Ware Co., Ga., built this stadium in the late 1940s for the school district, but it didn’t take long for professional baseball to find it. For nine years in the 1950s and one additional season in the 1960s, the Georgia-Florida League had a team here. During those years, the county high school played baseball and football at the park.

Prior to the 2002 season, the county undertook a major renovation of the facility, outfitting the field with artificial turf and adding a grandstand lengthwise along the football field. The stadium is now dedicated to football, although the occasional soccer match is played here as well.

I was not able to get into Memorial Stadium on my 1996 or 2020 visits.
