Palm Harbor University High School

The concession stand building also serves as standing room, Mar-2023.

The simple facility is tucked into a neighborhood.

A sign by the dugout reminds fans of the team nickname.

Quick Facts:
Palm Harbor is an unincorporated area of Pinellas County between the cities of Dunedin and Tarpon Springs. University High School, so named because a partnership with the University of South Florida was envisioned (it never occurred), opened in 1996, several blocks from the community’s historic downtown. Since its opening, the school has established itself as one of the highest-performing high schools in the region.

The school’s softball and baseball fields are located on the other side of 16 Street from the main campus, which is on Omaha Street (once called 13 Street but renamed to commemorate an intersection with Nebraska Avenue). The fields abut a neighborhood; as a result, lights have never been installed and the Hurricanes play their home games in the afternoon. There is also no stadium structure, but that is not uncommon for schools in the area. There is a scoreboard, and a faculty member handles the public address announcing.
