Quick Facts:
This handsome ballpark opened in 1946 strictly as a baseball facility, unlike several of its neighbors in southern Alabama that did double duty as football stadiums (and continue to be used as such), including the parks in Andalusia and Opp.

Interestingly, the last use of this field by a minor league team, in 1962, was a team that had already been relocated twice during the year. A Dodgers farm club opened the year in Panama City, moved to Andalusia, and wound up the season in Ozark before the team and the league folded at season’s end.

The park got one last fling in pro ball in 2002, with an independent league team. However, the facility continues to see quite a bit of use. The day I arrived in 2015, the field was hosting the championship round of the Dixie Majors World Series, a division of Dixie Youth Baseball for 15- to 18-year-old players.
