There are two sections of Riverside Avenue in Rutherford. The main section begins where Jackson Avenue leaves off (at what was originally penciled in as an intersection with Vanderburgh Avenue, but the last block south of Passaic Avenue was never built), and runs to the south end of town. This section is part of Route 507, one of a network of county highways numbered in the 500s and serving as secondary state routes.

The other, short section of the road runs from Washington Avenue to Union Avenue. A narrow strip between the street and the Passaic River is officially part of Rutherford Memorial Park.
