The most crucial and exciting game of the tournament took place against Garfield - National in the semi-final. Trailing 5-0 after two innings, Scott Lambie led a 4 run third inning attack by clubbing a two run homer over the centerfield fence. Rutherford tied the game in the fourth and went ahead 7-5 in the fifth. A 3 run homer by the Garfield team made it 8-7 going into the bottom of the last when Lambie again belted a home run putting the game into extra innings. Rutherford rallied again in the eighth for a 9-8 victory.
