Wednesday 23-Jul-1958: Rutherford National 12, Garfield National 4

The National League stars started agianst Garfield on Wednesday evening in Garfield. Mike McKenna was on the mound for Rutherford and was treated to a one-run lead in the first inning when DeWayne Robinson walked, went to 3rd on two infield outs and scored on a wild pitch. Garfield came back with 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st. The score remained that way until the 4th when both teams scored a run to make it 4-2. In the 5th Rutherford showed their class by pouring 8 runs over the plate on 5 hits, 2 walks and 4 Garfield errors. In the 6th, Rutherford added 2 more and won going away 12-4. Offensively the stars were Mike McKenna with 3 hits and Denny Bott, Dick DeLaney, John Boyle and Jerry Devlin with 2 hits each. Defensively the stars were Jerry Devlin and Greg Ehrhardt.
