Johnny Spins 5-2 Game in Little League Tilt

John Doshna went the distance and Rutherford’s Little League Stars topped Passaic 5-2, in a delayed finale Sunday at Rutherford’s Little League ballpark.

The battle arranged by the Baseball Council pitted clubs composed of top players from the towns’ respective circuits.

Phil Sheridan rattled the offerings of Passaic’s pitcher Tabor for three successive hits in as many tries. The first tallies came in the third inning when Phil dropped the ball behind the center fielder to score Don Schlenger and Neil Smith.

Rutherford added three insurance runs in the fifth frame providing more than a margin for Doshna. Johnny snuffed out a budding rally in the top of the sixth after Passaic scored two.

Neil Smith, Stan Brodka and Doshna joined Sheridan in the hitting department as each collected a bingle.
