Little League Baseball finally settles on a league age determination date for baseball. League age will now be the player’s age on 31-Aug of the playing year. Players born in 2005 or earlier will continue to use the 30-Apr date that had been in effect since 2006. The softball league age determination date, 31-Dec of the previous year, is left unchanged.

Tommy Prince, who was selected by the board of directors to complete the unexpired term of 21-year league president Walt Mager in May 2015, is named to a full term as league president. His father, Tom Prince, had served in the same capacity in 1989-90 and was in office when field lights were first installed at Tom Mellody Field.

In its largest capital expenditure in nearly a decade, the sprinkler system and infield sod are replaced during the 2015-16 off-season. While the entire field surface had been redone prior to the 2008 season, the sprinklers had been in place since the late 1980s and were in need of overhaul, leading in part to the need to redo the infield after just eight years.

Both the 12- and 10-year-old baseball tournament teams advance to the state finals. The 12s play at Gloucester City, site of the 1995 state finals that Rutherford American played in, while the 10s travel even farther, playing at Somers Point at the south end of Atlantic County.
