This WPA park, adjacent to the county fairgrounds, saw three seasons of action before World War II broke out. The park then thrived for ten years after the war before the general decline in minor league baseball took its toll.
For four seasons in the mid-1990s, the Texas-Louisiana League brought baseball back to the city in the form of the Wildcatters. The park got one final professional fling with the Roughnecks of the short-lived All-American Association in 2001.
