Cairns Field

Entrance to the Gordie Howe Sports Complex, which includes Cairns Field, Jun-2019.

Work is underway to replace the main grandstand.

The field itself, which is still being used during renovations.

Quick Facts:
J.F. Cairns Field and adjacent Leakos Field, both part of the Gordie Howe Sports Complex, have been used for major Canadian amateur tournaments. In addition, the field in Saskatchewan's largest city has been used for independent league ball in parts of five seasons.

I had been wondering why the facility was not being used for the Western Canadian Baseball League, a college summer circuit that uses six other facilities in the province as well as six fields in adjacent Alberta. When I arrived, I discovered the issue. The main grandstand has been torn down, and work has begun to replace it. As a result, I was not able to capture Cairns Field in its league-play glory.
