After sharing their team with the somewhat nearby city of Guayama for about 30 years, the city of Caguas built this ballpark and made los Criollos a full-time Caguas team in the Puerto Rico Professional Baseball League (now the Roberto Clemente League). The facility is named for a former mayor of Caguas and member of the Puerto Rico Senate.

In 2017, Hurricane Maria did extensive damage to the park. For several seasons, the club had to play down the road in Cayey. An entirely new ballpark was discussed, but in the end, the existing facility was renovated and los Criollos are back home.

One drawback here is that they did not install a dedicated scoreboard. The video board is programmed to configure as a traditional-looking board during the game. However, the night I attended, the top half of the video board blanked out, and so the number of the batter, the ball-and-strike count, and the number of outs were all missing. The announcer would fill the crowd in on the count after anywhere from three to five pitches into a batter.
