Quick Facts:
In 2005, the Ohio Valley Redcoats were a road team in the independent Frontier League. However, the franchise was looking for a new home, and they played several “home” games. They played two series at Marietta College and three games here in Patsie Campana Park, named for a local Little League supporter (the park also contains nine youth baseball and softball fields).

While the Redcoats wound up not settling in Lorain (a ballpark was eventually built in nearby Avon, opening in 2009), a movement started to upgrade the Campana Park field. U.S. Steel kicked in some of the renovation funds, and The Pipe Yard opened in 2007 to accommodate area high schools as well as the Lorain County Ironmen, a college summer league team. The Ironmen originally played in the Prospect League but shifted into the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League in order to cut back on travel expenses. The Prospect League stretches as far west as Hannibal, Mo.
