Max Bishop Stadium

The handsome seating bowl and press box.

Quick Facts:
I am not sure when the U.S. Naval Academy started playing at this field along King George Street in Annapolis, but they were certainly here by 1994, when, after playing their 1993 season at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore, the Bowie Baysox, an Eastern League team that had relocated from Hagerstown, still had no home field. As a result, they scrambled for home fields, playing some of their games here, about 15 miles from their eventual home in Bowie.

The stadium, named for a Navy head coach with a 25-year tenure, has a field dedicated to the brothers Ron and Bruce Terwilliger, both of whom were midshipmen at the Academy in the 1960s and have since donated heavily to the athletic program. The 2005 renovation not only created the existing permanent seating bowl, it also added a FieldTurf surface to everything except the home plate and pitcher’s mound.
