Home of the Fire

Entrance to Broer Stadium, Jan-2024.

Modest seating along the first-base line.

A nearly-behind-the-catcher view.

Quick Facts:
Southeastern University, affiliated with the Assemblies of God, began play at this facility appropriately on the southeast side of Lakeland when they were a member of the National Christian Colleges Athletic Association, winning several championships among that grouping. They have since joined the NAIA and have been consistently ranked among the top teams in that organization. They won the NAIA national tournament in 2018 and 2022.

The field, adjacent to Victory Field, the school’s football stadium, features modest seating. The Fire sit on the third-base side, and a small stand on that side is generally occupied by parents and relatives of SEU players. The stand on the first-base side holds about 200 fans.

While the field dimensions extend out to 400 feet in left center, it is only 315 feet to the left-field foul pole. A 24-foot-high fence helps keep some balls hit in that direction in play, similar to Fenway Park. Another Fenway-like feature is a short right-field pole, at 310 feet, although it bows out to a more respectable 370 feet in the right-field power alley.

The facility is right up against North Crystal Lake Drive; foul balls can and do land in the street and even on roofs of houses across the way.
