When professional baseball returned to Colorado Springs in 1950, the Sky Sox, an affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, played here at Spurgeon Field in Memorial Park. The White Sox left town after nine seasons, and the park saw no professional action for three decades. The new Sky Sox, an Indians affiliate, came here in 1988 and played at Spurgeon Field before moving on to the new
Sky Sox Stadium
in midseason.
