Lawrence Park

Quick Facts:
Lodi was one of the smallest markets to ever host a California League team, yet their club stayed in place, here at Lawrence Park, for 19 seasons. The park is just 12 miles from Stockton, a much larger market that recently built a new ballpark.

The stadium dates back to 1924, well before the founding of the California League franchise in 1966. It featured a section of stadium seating behind the plate flanked by bleachers down each foul line. Unfortunately, a fire, believed to be arson, consumed the main grandstand in September 2019. While the field is still used for high school and community baseball, and was also used for semi-pro ball in the 1940s and college summer ball early in the 21st century, it was uncertain whether the stadium can be rebuilt in time for the 2020 season.

I was unable to get into Lawrence Park on my 2004 visit.
