Highways of Passaic County, New Jersey

County Road 638

Passaic County Road 638 is Murray Avenue and Grand Street in Paterson.

Today, NJDOT classifies the road as an “urban minor arterial”, but in the 1930s and ’40s this was signed as part of NJ 6N, a highway leading from Pellington Boulevard (then NJ 6, now US 46) in Totowa to downtown Paterson. Out of Paterson, NJ S-6 followed Jackson Street, Clay Street, 21 Avenue, and Market Street back to NJ 3 (now NJ 20).
