Highways of Bergen County, New Jersey

Bergen County Road 62 in Hackensack, Maywood, and Rochelle Park is one of the oldest roads in the county, the beginning of a road that ran direct from Hackensack to Monroe, N.Y. At least the section west of 1st Street in Hackensack (CR 55) was part of NJ 17N (later NJ 2) before it was bypassed by the route that is known today as NJ 17.

CR 62 has an even (east-west) number because it began by running west out of Hackensack. However, it turns north once it reaches Paramus, and so the county has disconnected Paramus Road from CR 62 and added it to CR 75. The county has also added the former CR 60, Cedar Lane in Teaneck, to CR 62, but in doing so they left two blocks of Passaic Street as a spur to Main Street, where county jurisdiction ends before reaching River Street, CR 503. That is noted, but not logged, below.

The original south-to-north inventory has been reversed, and it now reads west to east from the Paramus-Rochelle Park line.
