Highways of Bergen County, New Jersey

Bergen County Road 89 is High Mountain Road, which begins in Haledon and continues northward into Franklin Lakes. At one time, the road continued into Oakland, but the construction of NJ 208 curtailed access, and the building of I-287 turned the very short stretch of the road in Oakland into a dead end. For completeness, that short snippet of road is detailed below.

NOTE: Road continues south as Passaic CR 677.

County Road S-89 leaves High Mountain Road at Summit Avenue, heads up to Franklin Avenue in the heart of Franklin Lakes, and then pushes up Pulis Avenue and Campgaw Road. Along the way, it passes Campgaw Mountain County Reservation, the county police and fire academy, and Darlington Golf Course, all in Mahwah near I-287.

The Pulis Avenue and Campgaw Road section was signed as part of primary route 3. However, no signs exist on that stretch today.
