Highways of Bergen County, New Jersey

Bergen County Road 33 is the previous designation given to most of CR 501 in Bergen County (from Englewood north). The designation may have also been assigned to the lower sections of the highway. None of that roadway is designated CR 33 any longer (though the sign image above still stands on the Tenafly-Cresskill border).

However, a short stretch of roadway in Ridgefield Park, primarily serving an industrial and retail complex, has now received the designation. In the NJDOT straight-line diagrams, it’s referred to as “Section 3” of CR 33.

Bergen County Road S-33 is a shortcut connecting County Road in Demarest with Closter Dock Road in Closter. Its number derives from an historical connection with CR 33 (now CR 501).

The entire length was designated as part of primary route 21; however, no signage to that effect exists today.
